The National Institutes of Health is awarding $21 million for a new program focused on computational models of hormone regulation in men and women.
The initiative aims to build human-based models that better capture biological differences affecting drug dosing, treatment response and toxicity. NIH says conventional mathematical and animal models often fail to represent those differences adequately.
The program is intended to improve the way researchers predict treatment effects and could contribute to more individualized approaches in drug development.
