Terms of Use

These terms govern use of The American Desk website, reporting, newsletters and related public services.

Last updated: September 19, 2026.

News and informational content

The American Desk provides news, analysis, context and other informational material. Content is not legal, medical, financial, investment or other professional advice. News can develop quickly, and previously published information may later be updated, corrected or superseded.

Accuracy and availability

We work to publish accurate reporting under our editorial standards, but we do not guarantee that every page will always be complete, current, error-free or continuously available. Use of the site is at your own risk to the extent permitted by law.

Intellectual property

Original articles, design, branding, graphics, software and other materials published by The American Desk are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws unless otherwise stated. You may link to our reporting and quote limited portions for lawful commentary, criticism, education or news reporting with appropriate attribution. Republishing substantial portions or entire articles without permission is prohibited except where permitted by law.

Third-party sources and links

Articles may link to government records, company statements, court materials, other publications and third-party websites. A link does not imply endorsement, and The American Desk is not responsible for third-party websites, availability, security or privacy practices.

Tips and submissions

By sending a tip, document, link, photograph or other material, you represent that you have the right to submit it. Submission does not guarantee publication, confidentiality, payment or a response. Unless we expressly agree otherwise, you grant us permission to review, verify, store and use submitted material for journalistic and editorial purposes consistent with applicable law.

Acceptable use

You may not use the site to interfere with its operation, bypass access controls, distribute malware, scrape private newsroom areas, impersonate another person, submit unlawful material or use automated systems in a way that materially burdens or disrupts the service.

Corrections and disputes

Requests concerning factual errors should be directed through our Corrections process or Send a Tip form. We review credible correction requests under our published editorial standards.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The American Desk and its operators, contributors and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from use of the site or reliance on its content. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Changes

We may revise these terms from time to time. Continued use of the site after a revision means the updated terms govern future use.
