A 16-year-old boy was critically injured after being shot twice in the legs Friday night in Philadelphia's Ogontz section, according to police information reported by 6abc.

The shooting happened around 7:45 p.m. on the 1900 block of West Godfrey Avenue. Officers found the teenager wounded and he was taken to Einstein Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition in the initial report.

Police had not announced an arrest and said no weapon had been recovered at the time of the report. Authorities also had not publicly provided a motive or a detailed description of a suspect.

The investigation remains active. Detectives may seek surveillance footage, witness accounts and other evidence from the neighborhood as they work to establish what happened before the shooting.

Because the victim is a minor and the case is developing, the public information available is limited. Residents with relevant information should contact Philadelphia police through official channels.

The American Desk will update this report if police identify a suspect, make an arrest or release additional verified information about the victim's condition.
